ARE YOU (MH) READY FOR LIFE-THREATENING SITUATIONS ?

On August 2nd, RSL Healthcare Consulting, LLC, posted an article, copied and sited from OutpatientSurgery.net. This was about a very serious and life-threatening situation that can happen to specific patients at any time in any deep sedation surgical procedure (using specific antagonistic medications). This “worst nightmare” is called Malignant Hyperthermia!

RSL Healthcare Consulting, LLC works with our clients, their OR Staff as well as Clinical Staff, to prepare for daily “potential” occurrences as well as unforeseen life-threatening emergencies. Running drills, on a regular basis, is both a State of Florida as well as an accreditation body requirement. RSL Healthcare Consulting, LLC assists in running drills for situations including, but not limited to: 

BLS and ACLS Emergencies, Incapacitated Surgeons and/or Anesthesia      Providers, Local Anesthetic Toxicity Reaction, as well as Malignant Hyperthermia, to name a few.

Thank you to Dr. David J. Applebaum, M.D., F.A.C.S, for allowing RSL Healthcare Consulting, LLC to be a part of your team and assist in the running of your Malignant Hyperthermia Drill. With Dr. Applebaum at the helm, along with 2 of their anesthesia providers present (because they both wanted to be a part of this life saving drill), as well as 3 RN’s, the circulator and scrub tech, education was provided, both verbally and hands-on. 

The ONLY reversal agent known for Malignant Hyperthermia is Dantrolene (aka - Dantrium/Ryanodex/Revonto). The drill included words of wisdom from MHAUS, the doctor and anesthesia providers experiences as well as valuable information from the on-site RSL Healthcare Consulting Risk Manager. All personnel also took part in the actual mixing of this drug.  Questions were asked and answered and everyone involved felt a greater sense of knowledge by being present.
