Executive Order from Governor Desantis

At the bottom of this section is a link to see the Executive Order from Governor Desantis prohibiting all elective procedures from being performed until further notice. This executive order takes effect immediately.   Please cancel all procedures and hold off from rescheduling any procedures until we all get a better picture of when the executive order will be lifted. This Executive Order is effective Immediately.

EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 20-72 (Emergency Management - COVID-19 - Non-essential Elective Medical Procedures)

Page 2, starting with; Now, therefore, I Ron Desantis, as Governor of Florida...... it ends with promulgate the following Executive Order to take immediate effect:


Section 1. A: All hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, office surgery centers, dental, orthodontic and endodontic offices and other health care practitioners'offices in the State of Florida are prohibited from providing any medically unnecessary, non-urgent or non-emergency procedure or surgery which, if deleted, does not place a patient's immediate health, safety or well-being at risk, or will, if delayed, not contribute to the worsening of a serious or life-threatening medical condition.  Accordingly, all healthcare practitioners licensed in the State of Florida, including dentists, shall immediately cease performing these elective services.


Section B:  gives examples of non-emergent procedures that include but are not limited to:  endoscopy, cataract and lens surgery, spine, orthopedic and cosmetic procedures.


Section C:  gives examples of PERMISSIBLE procedures that include but are not limited to: the removal of cancerous tumors, transplants, limb-threatening surgeries, trauma-related procedures and dental care related to the relief of pain and management of infection
